BREAKING NEWS: President Buhari Wants More Than Jail Terms For Looters President Muhammadu Buhari has advocated for more than jail terms for people who loot their nation’s wealth, noting that full asset recovery will serve as a more effective deterrence. The president said this while addressing world leaders at the first edition of the Paris Peace Forum in France on Sunday, November 11, 2018. He called for a harder crackdown on perpetrators of illicit financial flows to discourage more public officials from mismanaging their nation’s resources to the detriment of poor and vulnerable populace. During his statement on “Illicit Financial Flows (Iffs) and Corruption: The Challenge of Global Governance”, he said the threat of jail terms is not strong enough to deter perpetrators. He said a more effective punishment would be to fully recover the profits and assets generated from illicit financial flows and corruption. He said, “Our experience in Nigeria is that financial

2019 Election:Yoruba Youth Say No To Atiku-‘He Will Disrespect The South-West’ Ahead of the 2019 general election, the Progressives Yoruba Youth Congress (PYYC) has vowed to mobilize the South-West against voting for Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The group said voting Atiku and the PDP back to power would have “grave consequences on the South-West geopolitical zone”. Kola Salawu, the PYYC National President, addressed reporters in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Tuesday. Salawu decried that the region, which he said has the second highest number of registered voters, was denied meaningful positions in the political hierarchy during the PDP administration. He also recalled that at some point, nobody from the South-West occupied any of the top 10 positions in the country while the PDP was in power. “This forced the South-West, through its major political leaders, to act and they pushed for alliances with other political p

Untold Story: How Nigerian Soldiers Killed Dozens Of Shiites In Four Days The bloody violence that erupted after Nigerian soldiers opened gunfire on Shiite protesters on the outskirts of Abuja Monday afternoon left at least 21 members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) dead, PREMIUM TIMES can report following an assessment of the aftermath. The fresh evidence collected by this newspaper throughout Tuesday questions the official account by the Nigerian Army which said only three persons were killed. It perhaps also revealed the extent Nigerian authorities would go to downplay death toll of civilian victims of a tragedy, an age-long practice that has worsened in recent years despite the country being a member of various international convention on human rights. The IMN members revealed to PREMIUM TIMES how they evacuated dozens of bodies of their loved fellow Shiites who were killed by a gun truck which the Nigerian Army deployed as part of its response to quell the p

Breaking! Ajimobi ‘Was Paid’ $10million To Drop Tegbe For Bayo Adelabu – Sahara Reporters The last-minute decision of Abiola Ajimobi, Governor of Oyo State, to back Bayo Adelabu rather than Joseph Tegbe for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not without money changing hands, SaharaReporters has been told. Months before the primary election, Ajimobi egged on anyone who indicated interest in succeeding him; however, as the primary election drew nigh, it became apparent that he was tilting towards Tegbe over Adelabu. A source had told SaharaReporters back then: “Each time anyone went to him to say he wanted to run in 2019, the Governor always encouraged them. He would answer, ‘Of course you are qualified. You schooled and you work in a reputable company; go ahead’. Now, those aspirants misconstrued the Governor’s encouragement for endorsement, not knowing that he had been telling all them the same thing,” he said. The source had also added:

The group made this known in a communiqué signed by the National President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and the Secretary, Comrade Obinna Achionye and made available to journalists shortly after their Igbo Summit/Conference held in Abakiliki. It reads in part: “President Buhari should appease Ndigbo by using his Executive Order 6, to create additional states for South East, as the creation of additional states will address all the structural injustice and artificial marginalization created by the military. “If President Buhari creates another state in the South East, this may qualify him to gain support from South East in 2019.
