BREAKING: COURT AFFIRMS JULIUS ABURE AS LABOUR PARTY CHAIRMAN, FINES LAMIDI APAPA The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed Julius Abure as the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP). The court also set aside the decision of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court which last year, restrained Abure and two others from parading themselves as national officers of the party. In the judgement delivered by Justice Hamma Barka on Wednesday, the Appellate Court held that the high court was wrong to have assumed jurisdiction on the matter. The Appellate Court also awarded a cost of One million Naira in favour of Abure and against the respondent, Lamidi Apapa. It will be recalled that Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court had last year, granted and ex-parte order, ordering that Abure and two other national officers stop parading themselves as leaders of the party for allegedly forging national documents but the Appellate Court set the verdict aside...

Ibadan Explosion: How Fire Ignited Illegal Miners’ Explosives – Survivor Recounts Near-Death Experience Survivors of the explosion that occurred at Dejo Oyelese Street, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State on Tuesday claimed that dynamite used by miners triggered the explosion which led to loss of lives and property in the community. One of the survivors identified only as Alhaji Mohammed said, “When the spark started, it was from the electricals and I brought out my fire extinguisher trying to help. My neighbour told me that it had passed an extinguisher and we needed to call the fire service. I told my son to bring my phone for me to call the fire service before the fire touched dynamite brought home by some miners in the building. “The explosion threw me away and I thought I was dead.
