N700Bn Was Not In The Account General's Office During The Fire Outbreak, Finance Minister Opens Up
Nigeria's Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning has opened up on the serial allegations leveled against her as it concerns the billions of Naira meant to be disbursed to Nigerians.
The Minister became a media sensation after fire gut the Account General of the Federation's office just a few hours after the National Assembly demanded an audit of how coronavirus relief funds have been disbursed.
A lot of mainstream media spread rumors that there was either 700Bn or 800Bn in the office when it gutted fire, while others thought that the office was set in flames to destroy every paperwork that would indict the public officials in any hanky panky.
However, the ministry had come forward to say that the entire money they've received as the donation is not more than N30 Billion and that there was no N700 Billion in the office when the fire engulfed it.
"The general public should take note. @zshamsuna did not grant a press conference or any interviews," The Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning tweeted. "No funds were lost in the fire at the Accountant General's Office, which was contained to two rooms. Donations are under N30b to date. This is pure mischief & should be disregarded."
Whether the fire gut the money or not, Nigerians are still asking for proof of the money, they've spent this far.
