Nigeria Sport

Numbers like 9, 7, 11, 5, 6 and 10 are popular jersey numbera in the game of football. But sometimes, due to one reason or the other, a footballer may decide to wear a very strange shirt number.

Born on January 17, 1977, Hicham Zerouali was a Moroccan footballer who played mainly as a forward for clubs like FUS de Rabbat, Aberdeen and Al-Nassr as well as the Moroccan national team.

Zerouali was nicknamed 'Zero' and as a result, he wore the jersey number 0 while playing for Scottish club Aberdeen, who had signed him for a fee of £450,000. But a year after, the jersey number 0 was banned by the league.

Zerouali made 7 appearances for the Moroccan national team, scoring 3 goals. And at club level, he made 40 appearances for Aberdeen, scoring 11 goals.

Sadly, he died on December 5, 2014 after he was involved in a fatal motor accident in Rabat, Morocco. He was aged 27 and had a daughter by his girlfriend
