Ibadan-Raised Nigerian National Anthem Lyricist, Tunde Ogunnaike Dies at 65 Renowned Chemical Engineer and Song Composer, Professor Babatunde Ayodeji Ogunnaike also known as Tunde Ogunnaike, whose words make up most (if not all of) of stanza two of the Nigerian national anthem, has died. Born on March 26, 1956, the Ogun-indigene and American Citizen passed away on Sunday 20, February 2022, after waging a long battle against cancer. Ogunnaike grew up in Ibadan and attend Government College before proceeding to Unilag, where he graduated in 1976 with First Class Honours at the age of 20. He reportedly died in the US where he’d been a professor for over 25 years and lately Dean of Engineering at Delaware University. In 1977 as a 21 year old NYSC member serving in Port Harcourt, he responded to a call for entries into a competition organised by the Federal Ministry of Information to replace the Nigerian national anthem. More Trouble For Disgraced ‘Super Cop’, Abba Kyari As Anti-drug Agency, NDLEA Uncovers N3 Billion Undeclared Tramadol Seizure  More trouble appears to be looming for the suspended Commander of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), ACP Abba Kyari, as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) launches into the probe of the seizure of a large consignment of Tramadol, an illegal drug, in Lagos. The alleged seizure, it was learnt, was not disclosed to the agency. The 69-year-old politician said this during a visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi on Sunday. Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Oyo town was part of his engagement with traditional rulers across the six geo-political regions in respect of his 2023 presidential ambition. Speaking in Yoruba, he said, "You won't give room for the elderly to pass and you haven't become president. What if you become president, you will chase us out of town?" Reps Probe Aregbesola, Nababa Over Misuse Of N165 Billion For Correctional Service The House of Representatives has ordered an immediate investigation over the usage of over N165 billion budgeted to the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS) within the last two years. Adopting a motion under matters of national importance sponsored by Mr. Ndudi Elumelu at the plenary presided by  Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila , the House explained that the measure was aimed at addressing the appalling state of custodial facilities and general welfare of inmates in the country. In effect, the House mandated its Committee on Reformatory Institutions to probe into the alleged infraction and turn in its report within twelve weeks for further legislative action.
