Two Political Parties That Bola Tinubu May Defect To If He Decides To Leave APC

With the uncertainties surrounding the presidential candidacy of the All Progressive Congress, it is being argued that some presidential aspirants in the party may leave the party in the event that they are not given the presidential ticket to represent the APC in the forthcoming presidential election.

One of those presidential aspirants in the All Progressive Congress who may decide to leave the party if they are denied the party could be none other than Bola Ahmed Tinubu who possesses the political structure to vie for the presidency from any political party.

In the event that Bola Tinubu decides to leave the APC over the presidency, there are two political parties that the former governor may pitch a tent with.

Alliance for Democracy (AD)

Former governor of Lagos State and presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, may decide to defect to the Alliance for Democracy and contest the presidency from there if he is not given the APC presidential ticket.

Recall that Bola Tinubu was one of the founders of the Alliance for Democracy, on which platform he won his first election as the governor of Lagos State in 1999.

Having previously had connections with the party and having taken the party to victory in 1999, it would be easy for Bola Ahmed Tinubu to return back to the party if he thinks he needs it to actualize his political ambitions.

In the event that Tinubu decides to dump the APC and join the Alliance for Democracy, he may not find any difficulty building up on the existing political structure that he had helped build while he was still in the party.

Social Democratic Party (SDP)

The Social Democratic Party could be a viable option for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu if the presidential candidate decides to pursue his presidential ambitions away from his current party, the APC.

The SDP already has a political structure that dates back to 1989 when it was created. Such a long-standing political structure may come in handy for Bola Tinubu if he decides to pitch his tent with another political party.

The SDP boasts of having had eminent members such as Atiku Abubakar, Umaru Yar'adua, Professor Jerry Gana, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Chief MKO Abiola who won the annulled June 12 presidential election, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself.

Having roots already in most states of the federation with about 5 Senators in the Nigerian Senate, Bola Tinubu may not have any difficulty building on the existing structures of the party to further enhance his chances against the 2023 presidency
