BREAKING: Kingmakers Announce Balogun As Olubadan-Elect

The nomination of Dr Lekan Balogun as the next Olubadan of Ibadan land has been endorsed by ten of the eleven members of the Olubadan-in-Council

The Council also denied that a legal tussle could scupper the succession to the Olubadan throne.

The Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola, stated these at a briefing by the kingmakers on Wednesday.



According to Ajibola, the kingmakers resolved that Dr Balogun is next in line to ascend the throne of Olubadan according to tradition.

He also debunks insinuations relating to the health and wellness of the new Olubadan-elect.

He said all the negative media reports were nothing to worry about.

According to The Nation, the meeting is being attended by members of the Olubadan-in-Council, except former governor Rashidi Ladoja.

Other High Chiefs in attendance, according to the publication, are Balogun Olubadan, Owolabi Olakulehin; Otun Balogun, Olufemi Olaifa; Ashipa Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole and Osi Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola.

The others are Ekaarun Olubadan, Amidu Ajibade; Ashila Balogun Olubadan, Lateef Gbadamosi, Ekaarun Balogun, Kola Adegbola and Ekerin Olubadan Abiodun Kola-Daisi...

Beware Of The ‘Kponmo ’ You Buy – NAFDAC Warns The Management of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted the public, especially consumers of animal hides, popularly known as ‘Ponmo’ in local parlance on the activities of some unscrupulous business men and traders who are selling industrial animal hides as food article. BREAKING: Court Orders AGF Malami To ‘Delete’ Section 84 (12) From Electoral Act A Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, has declared Section 84 (12) of the recently signed Electoral Act 2022 a nullity. Justice Evelyn Anyadike, who delivered the judgment, also directed the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to expunge that section from the Act. The section which requires political appointees seeking elective offices to resign 30 days before election, states that  “No political appointee at any level shall be a voting delegate or be voted for at the Convention or Congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election.” Meanwhile, before any section of the Electoral Act can be tampered with, the Act has to go through a legislative process and return to the president for fresh assent.
