2023 Election:Why Tinubu Won't Pull Out Despite Amaechi Being President Buhari's Preferred Candidate

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, political observers are of the opinion that Bola Tinubu's hope and expectation that President Muhammadu Buhari who was a beneficiary of his labour in helping to set up the APC and swung the support of the southwest to Buhari’s eventual victory in 2015 and 2019, to return the favour in 2023 might have turned out to be a forlorn hope.

There are strong speculations that some power brokers in the All Progressive Congress (APC) does not favored Tinubu, who might switched to his Plan B, which is to throw his weight behind a popular candidate.

According to a report by the Punch, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has said that the people of the Northern part of the country have no other presidential aspirant to support than the National leader of the All progressive congress.

He said Tinubu persistently stood firm and ensured that the people of the South-West supported Muhammadu Buhari, from the APC primary up to the presidential election where he was victorious.

He said the time has come for the Northerners to show and tell the world that they are supporting Tinubu’s presidential ambition to enable him to take the country to greater heights.

According a report , the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has said that Nigerians at home and in the diaspora have democratic power to determine who becomes next president in 2023 general election, and not the sitting President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu noted that the directive of President Buhari to him to announce his presidential bid, prompted him to begin consultations with those that matter in the country.

He said the rationale behind informing President Buhari of his interest in contesting to become Nigeria’s president, was strictly borne out of the passion to uphold mutual respect, not to create bad blood between him and Buhari because he did not want to offend him by pulling the carpet from his feet.
