2023: Bode George Exposes Tinubu

Well, George revealed one major reason he is opposing Tinubu. He stated it was because of what Tinubu did rearding tax funds in Lagos when he was the Governor. In a report on Daily Post, George revealed that Tinubu left Lagos Inland Revenue Service (LIRS) which is in charge of tax collection and instead engaged his company (name mentioned in the report) to collect tax monies in Lagos during his tenure. The report cited above stated that George said revealed these when he appeared on Channels TV programme.

It means that he used a company said to belong to him to collect Lagos State government tax money during his term as Governor. While doing this, LIRS was kept aside. George insisted that it was wrong to do that. According to him, how can someone in power found a private company to collect government money when LIRS was there? The duty of LIRS is tax collection in Lagos.

At the end of the day, what the company remitted was what Lagos Government knew. George alleged that the resources of Lagos was mismanaged in all these dealings. This is why he is against that approach Tinubu used. Meanwhile, the company still collects taxes for the state till date since Tinubu's loyalists have been ruling Lagos since 2007 when he left office.
